TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

There are several wildfires burning in Arizona including the Oak fire, currently burning in the Safford Ranger District of the Coronado National Forest, Galiuro Mountains.

According to Forest Service officials the fire has burned nearly 13,137 acres and was caused by lightning. Currently there are three hotshot crews and two hand crews, as well as six helicopters and five engines controlling this fire.

These firefighting crews are treating this fire as a controlled burn. According to officials the idea is to allow the fire to burn out the old and dry grasses and brush in order to prevent larger fires from happening in the same area.

Stay with Tucson News Now for more updates on this fire as they come in.
