Looking for an a-mazing adventure this summer? The BIG Maze at the National Building Museum in Washington, DC, will be complete and open to the public this Friday. The entire construction process is being documented in high definition by Work Zone Cam, a leading provider of construction webcam solutions.
As Americas leading cultural institution devoted to the history and impact of construction, executives at the National Building Museum chose Work Zone Cam, a low cost, high quality megapixel webcam, to showcase this unique project to the public. With views of the jobsite from start to finish available on the museums webpage, architecture and engineering fans of all ages are able to interact with the project progress, even posting highlights to Facebook and Twitter.
"The camera allows us to document the building process of this extraordinary structure and share it widely with the public," said Chase W. Rynd, executive director of the National Building Museum. "The time-lapse generates excitement for learning about design and the built environment.
The Museum, in partnership with international architecture firm, BIG-Bjarke Ingels Group, is creating an unprecedented large-scale maze. Boasting twists and turns and reaching 18 feet in height, the structure is inspired by ancient labyrinths and will take up residence in the Museums historic Great Hall. The maze, which will be the first large-scale building installation inside the museum since 1988, will be open July 4 to September 1, 2014.
At the completion of the project, Work Zone Cam producers will hand-edit the high resolution jobsite images into a professional time-lapse movie. Viewers will be able to watch as the vision for The BIG Maze comes to life.
