HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - We've seen so many NFL championship teams endure the Super Bowl hangover and apparently, it happens to U.S. Women's Open winners as well.
At first, the busy week didn't seem to phase Michelle Wie as she led going into the final round of the NW Arkansas Championship, but Sunday's final round showed the fatigue finally caught up with her.
The Punahou grad entered the day with the lead, but three straight bogeys on holes 9 thru 11 dropped her to eighth place as she shot a 73 to close the weekend.
Fellow American Stacy Lewis would win the tourney by one stroke at 12-under par.
It's the first time since early May Wie has fired a 73.
Nonetheless, she still racks up her 10th top-10 finish of the year.
Wie will be back in action on July 10 at the Women's British Open.
