Visitor from Utah dies after apparent drowning at Shark's Cove

PUPUKEA, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Officials say a tourist from Utah has died after he apparently drowned at Shark's Cove Sunday morning.

Ocean Safety, Emergency Medical Services and Honolulu fire crews responded to the Pupukea area around 9:45 a.m. for a near drowning.

Officials say the man was apparently snorkeling when he ran into trouble. Bystanders reportedly pulled the man out of the water and onto shore.

Ocean Safety lifeguards and HFD performed CPR. The patient regained a pulse and began breathing.

EMS continued treatment and transported the patient to Wahiawa General Hospital in critical condition, where he later died.

Officials say there are no signs of foul play.
