No tsunami threat to Hawaii after 6.8 earthquake near Fiji

A strong earthquake has shaken an area near Fiji, but it was not strong enough to generate a tsunami threat to Hawaii.

The earthquake was measured at a preliminary magnitude of 6.8, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The earthquake happened around 7:15 a.m. Sunday HST.
