TRAFFIC ALERT UPDATE: H-1 rehab project partial closures begin Saturday

Restriping efforts for the H-1 Freeway rehabilitation project were hampered by rain overnight forcing an early work shut down and resulting in minimal striping work completed. Tonight crews will again work on restriping in the eastbound direction.   Closures are scheduled for right lanes in the vicinity of Likelike Highway to the vicinity of Ward Avenue.

Please be advised that the following ramps will be closed:
    · Liliha Street Onramp
    · Pali Highway Onramp
    · Pali Highway Offramp
    · Punchbowl Street Offramp

All lanes and ramps will be re-opened by 8 a.m., Sunday, June 29.   All westbound lanes in the H1 Rehab project limits (Likelike Highway to Ward Avenue) will remain open overnight.

Motorists are advised that due to nightly restriping, traffic patterns will be altered each night until the final four through-lane configuration is completed.  Please head warning signs and use caution while adjusting to new lane configurations.

The H-1 Freeway rehabilitation project is reconstructing one of the oldest and most congested sections of the H1 Freeway through town. In addition to pavement reconstruction and repaving, the project includes improved drainage, upgraded highway lighting, median glare screens, the widening of the Nuuanu Stream Bridge and Palama separation, and restriping to create four through lanes in each direction.
