MANOA, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) - {Update}

Dole Street, near the UH Faculty Housing, was re-opened around 6:30 a.m. Sunday. The road had been closed since Thursday afternoon when a 20-inch water main broke.

Board of Water Supply crews restored service to the main about 7 p.m. Saturday. No customers were without water during the repair.

Dole Street, between Kanewai Park and the University Faculty Housing, continues to be completely closed as Board of Water Supply crews continue to repair the transmission main on Dole St. that broke yesterday afternoon.

The road will remain closed overnight well into Saturday morning.  Motorists are advised to avoid the area or find alternate routes, if possible.

Crews have had to dig to a depth of 12 feet to uncover the pipe, which was originally installed in 1928, and they are still determining the extent of the damage from the break.  Once that is known, they can then remove and replace the damaged length of main and then work to restore the roadway.

No customers are without water service.
