HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Drivers should expect minimal lane closures during the first two weeks of the Kalanianaole Highway and Kamehameha Highway projects starting Monday, June 23rd. The Department of Transportation will start the project with prep work such as sign installation, storm drain barrier placement and survey and layout work for up to two weeks depending on weather.
Once major construction begins, commuters should expect multiple lane closures on several key thoroughfares across Oahu and delays while driving in Hawaii Kai or Mililani.
Two east-bound lanes of Kalanianaole Highway will be closed from West Hind Drive to Hanauma Bay between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., Monday through Friday, for the next year and a half.
A single lane on Kamehameha Highway through Waipahu and Mililani, in the Waipio area, will be closed from Ka Uka Blvd. to Waihau St. on weekdays between 8:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. for the next two years.
