A 42-year-old woman has died in hospital on Sunday evening after she nearly drowned at Hanauma Bay earlier that morning.
Lifeguards found the woman 70 yards offshore at around 10 a.m. Sunday at the popular tourist destination.
Authorities said the woman became unconscious and had no pulse. Medics revived her and took her to a nearby hospital in critical condition where she later died.
HPD's Criminal Investigation Division has classified it as an unattended death.
