HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The Japanese Cultural Center of Hawaii is ready for a major makeover, thanks to a big financial boost.

Governor Neil Abercrombie announced the release of $450,000 to the center. The funds will be used for design and construction for safety and energy improvements of the Manoa Grand Ballroom and other common areas.

The Governor says this project will benefit those in the community who use the facilities and will also provide job opportunities for the construction industry.
