Four rowers who were attempting to cross the Pacific Ocean from California to Hawaii were rescued by the Coast Guard on Saturday.

The four men were a crew competing in the Great Pacific Race from Monterey to Honolulu, when their 24-foot rowboat began taking in water on Friday night.

A coast guard helicopter lowered a rescue swimmer to the boat in the early hours on Saturday, approximately 75 miles west of San Luis Obispo, Calif.

All four rowers were safely hoisted into the aircraft, and are reported to be in good condition.
