Brook-Falls Veterinary Hospital & Exotic Care, Inc is thrilled to announce their donation of 840 pounds of gourmet bird food to the Center for Avian Rehabilitation and Education (CARE). This donation was made possible by the hospitals Fans for Food campaign, launched in March 2014.

Menomonee Falls, WI (PRWEB) June 21, 2014

The Fans for Food campaign was officially launched on March 1, 2014 by Brook-Falls Veterinary Hospital & Exotic Care, Inc. For every like that the Menomonee Falls veterinarian received on their Facebook page, during the month of March, they donated one pound of Gourmet Nutri-Berries or Avi-Cakes from the Lafeber Bird Food Company to the CARE organization. Thanks to the astounding 840 likes given by loving pet owners and fans of the hospital, this generous donation of food went to supply the needy birds at the CARE rescue.

The doctors at Brook-Falls Veterinary Hospital & Exotic Care, Inc have been providing veterinary services for all the birds at CARE since it was founded in 1996. One of the owners, Dr Jennifer Bloss, serves as a consultant for the Lafeber company, which is how the donation came about. The hospital was extremely happy with the success of the campaign, knowing that the food was going to a truly worthy cause. Nutrition is critically important to the health of birds, says Dr. Jennifer Bloss. Many people just feed their birds birdseed that they buy in the pet store, which is low in vitamins, protein and minerals and is loaded with fat. To a bird, its equivalent to eating a diet of French fries and Twinkies! Dr Bloss says that the hospital chooses Lafeber bird products because they are nutritious and the birds love them.

CARE is an all volunteer organization that depends solely on private donations, receiving no public funding whatsoever. This non-profit group was founded by Lori Drew and is dedicated to the welfare of exotic birds. In 2004, the organization moved to a larger facility in Richfield, Wisconsin, which now includes a 1,000-square-foot aviary, a retail area and a space for boarding. Between 2000 and the present day, the organization has found loving forever-homes for nearly 4,600 grateful birds!

Brook-Falls Veterinary Hospital & Exotic Care, Inc has been serving the people and pets of the Menomonee Falls and Brookfield for over 40 years. Today, the 6,400-square-foot, state-of-the-art facility offers an extensive range of comprehensive services to meet the varying needs of all their patients. It is also employs the only board-certified avian veterinarian in the state of Wisconsin, Dr Scott Ford. Beyond their education, skills and experience, each member of the Brook-Falls team is a loving pet owner; this is why they connect so well with their clients and patients. Each team member is prepared to work with you and your pet, whether it has fur, feathers, scales or a shell to enjoy a long, happy and healthy life.
