HONOLULU (AP) - Jurors have yet to reach a decision on whether a former Hawaii-based soldier must be sentenced to death for his 5-year-old daughter's murder.
The jury completed its third full day of deliberations on Tuesday without reaching a decision on Naeem Williams' sentence. They can choose between the death penalty and life in prison without possibility for release.
There were no notes from the jury to the judge on Tuesday.
The jury is scheduled to return to the federal courthouse in Honolulu on Wednesday to resume deliberations.
The same jury convicted Williams of murder in April for the 2005 beating death of his daughter, Talia.
Even though Hawaii doesn't have the death penalty, it's still a possible sentence in federal cases.
