HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - HMSA honored Hawaii's top students who have excelled in academics, community service and sports at the Kaimana Awards luncheon. Xavier Imperial, a Maryknoll graduate and William "Tripp" Blaser III, a Waialua graduate, are both award recipients. They are here on Sunrise to talk more about the awards and what it takes to achieve one.
Xavier Imperial played tennis and volleyball for Maryknoll. He founded a non-profit organization called Projects Inspired by Teens Changing Hawaii (PITCH). Xavier was also a member of the 2013 State Champion David Ricardo Division HCEE Economics Challenge team. He received The President's Volunteer Service Award, and earned the Degrees of Merit, Honor, and Excellence from the National Forensics League. Xavier will be attending Creighton University in the Fall.
William "Tripp" Blaser III played tennis, air riflery, golf, and basketball. He has had great success in robotics and was recognized as a National Dean's List winner. He has dedicated 8 years to working as an assistant coach teaching life skills to children through the game of golf. Tripp plans on majoring in mechanical engineering in hopes to use his education for the benefit of his community.
