An early morning fire in Hauula destroyed a home on Sunday, displacing 10 people.
Honolulu Fire officials responded to a 2-alarm fire call at a single-story home on 54-0148 Kawaipuna Street at 5:24 a.m. Upon arrival authorities say the home was engulfed in flames. The fire was under control shortly before 6 a.m.
A total of 10 people were displaced by the fire, including seven adults and three minors. All occupants were able to escape safely. A man in his 60's did suffer from burns on his arm, but refused treatment.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. According to HFD, damages are estimated at $360,000 to its structure, and $40,000 to its contents.
Volunteers with the Red Cross will meet with the affected residents and ensure their immediate emergency needs for food, shelter and clothing are met.
