PAHOA, Hawaii (AP) - The Coast Guard and the Hawaii County Fire Department are searching for a man who was apparently swept out to sea while fishing off the Big Island.
Witnesses say the 56-year-old man was fishing Friday evening from a 10-foot cliff near MacKenzie State Recreation Area when he either slipped or was washed by a wave. Officials said he was wearing black rain gear.
The Coast Guard and fire officials said they were notified around 9:40 p.m. and launched a search by helicopter and boat.
Crews resumed the search Saturday morning.
