All Hawaiians eliminated from ASP Fiji Pro

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - It was a busy day for local surfers at the ASP Fiji Pro.

Wednesday's action started with an all-Hawaiian duel in round three as John John Florence faced off against Kauai's own Sebastian Zietz and the Haleiwa native took no prisoners.

He dropped a 7.6 and an 8.5 on his first two waves and went on to cruise to a heat win by 12 points.

Unfortunately, he couldn't carry it over to the quarterfinals as he fell to Gabriel Medina, who also eliminated Oahu's Fred Patacchia.

There are no local surfers remaining heading into Thursday's semifinals.
