Homeless student Victoria Cuba receives City Council honor

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Victoria Cuba, a homeless high school graduate, received a big honor on Wednesday at Honolulu Hale. She was invited to the City Council and given a certificate of merit.

The 17-year-old was also the first youth to ever give the message of aloha to start a Council meeting.

Cuba graduated from Waipahu High School in May and plans to attend the University of Hawaii in the fall. Her personal story of homelessness has inspired and touched many, drawing an outpouring of support for Cuba.
