Standhardinger falls in amateur boxing debut

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Two months ago, Christian Standhardinger was playing in a college basketball all-star game, but-- since his playing days in Manoa are finishes.

He discovered the sweet science and made his amateur boxing debut Saturday night.

Unfortunately, it was the best of openings as Standhardinger lost to Antonio Toetu'u at the Palolo District Park Gym.

The 6-foot, 8-inch German had a reach advantage, but the 250-lb Toetu'u neutralized all of that as he played the aggressor through all three, two-minute rounds.

Standhardinger suffered the loss in points.

It's not yet know if he'll be getting back into the ring anytime soon.
