Moanalua Road reopened after HECO crews repair downed pole

MOANALUA, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Moanalua Road is reopened after a vehicle slammed into a utility pole early Saturday morning in the Aiea area.

HECO officials say the vehicle reportedly knocked down the pole and its power lines shortly before 3:30 a.m. on Moanalua Road.

Honolulu Police closed Moanalua Road in both directions between Pali Momi and Honomanu Streets around 3:24 a.m.

A HECO pole replacement crew arrived on scene around 7 a.m. to assess the situation. About three HECO customers were affected by the downed lines.

HPD officials reopened the roads around 8:34 a.m. Traffic is being contraflowed while HECO crews work on replacing the damaged pole. The pole replacement should take about 8 hours, according to HECO officials.

According to HPD, no injuries were reported.
