Bees swarm discarded furniture near Pearlridge school

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A swarm of bees that have made a hive in a discarded couch near Pearlridge Elementary School are making it a dangerous situation for pedestrians in the area.

Two city employees were stung by bees several times while trying to remove the discarded couch.

The couch, which is on the makai side of Moanalua Road across the street from the elementary school, was still there when Hawaii News Now crews arrived on Thursday morning.

Crews will likely have to tackle the bee problem before they get rid of the couch, environmentalists say.
