Flood Advisory posted for Windward Oahu

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Advisory for portions of Oahu until 12:15 p.m.

Forecasters said at 9:10 a.m., a rain gauge in Punaluu recorded rain falling at a rate of one inch per hour. Radar also showed more thundershowers that will be moving onto Windward Oahu during the morning.

Other locations in the advisory include but are not limited to Punaluu, Waiahole, Waikane, Laie, Kaneohe Marine Corps Base, Kahaluu, Kaaawa and Hauula.

Persons in the advisory area should avoid streams, drainage ditches and low-lying areas that are prone to flooding. Rainfall and runoff will also cause hazardous driving conditions due to reduced visibility, ponding and poor braking.

The advisory may be extended if heavy rain persists.
