Heavy showers and thunderstorms to continue Sunday
HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -
The National Weather Service says that lingering instability will maintain a threat for heavy showers and thunderstorms near Kauai and Oahu, as light winds and humid conditions continue state-wide.
Forecasters say as the land heats up, heavy showers and thunderstorms will develop over Kauai, Oahu, and to a lesser degree on Molokai and Lanai, and it's important to note that this afternoon's thunderstorms will be capable of producing frequent lightning.
The thunderstorm and heavy shower threat will diminish on memorial day as trade winds build over the islands. Trade winds will focus showers across windward and mauka areas through the new work week.
