WASHINGTON, DC (POOL/CNN) – A shake-up in the Obama administration.

On Friday, the president nominated San Antonio Mayor Julian Castro to become the Housing and Urban Development Secretary.

Shaun Donovan, the current housing chief, apparently earned a spot in the budget office.

"Now here's the problem, is when you're good at your job people always want you to do more," Obama said. "So that's why today, I am nominating Shaun [Donovan] to be the next Director of the Office of Management and Budget. And to take his place at HUD I am nominating another all-star who's done a fantastic job in San Antonio over the last five years, Mayor Julian Castro."

The 39-year-old Castro is the youngest mayor of a major U.S. city.

He emerged on the national stage in delivering the keynote address at the 2012 Democratic National Convention.
