Harlem Irving Plaza to Sponsor American Red Cross Blood Drive

NORRIDGE, Ill., May 22, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- In its third consecutive year, Harlem Irving Plaza is proud to partner with the American Red Cross on Wednesday, June 11, 2014 for the second installment of its annual 3-part monthly blood drive to help increase awareness for a life-saving organization.   Earlier this month, the American Red Cross collected 60 pints of blood at Harlem Irving Plaza which is equivalent to saving 180 lives.

"During the summer months, blood donations tend to decline as schools are out of session and families are on vacation," said Tammy Winchester, Red Cross donor recruitment representative.  "Since 2012, the HIP has been important partners in helping the Red Cross collect lifesaving blood during the difficult summer season.  Their support helps ensure that hospital patients have the blood products they need – no matter when or where they are needed," added Ms. Winchester.

The blood drive will be held in Harlem Irving Plaza's Carson's Court from 11 a.m.– 6 p.m.  Donors can sign up in advance at www.redcrossblood.org and search 60706 or at the Harlem Irving Plaza Customer Service Desk.  Appointments are strongly encouraged.  All donors will receive a $10 HIP Gift Card and a $5 Forever Yogurt coupon.  Harlem Irving Plaza will proudly host the third blood drive later this summer on Wednesday, August 13, 2014.
