USGS confirms magnitude 3.2 earthquake in central Virginia

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) -

The United State Geological Survey has confirmed that a magnitude 3.2 earthquake rocked central Virginia Wednesday night.

The USGS has confirmed that the epicenter of the earthquake was located at 37.462 degrees North, 78.040 degrees West, corresponding to Amelia Courthouse, Va.

There are no reports of damages due to the quake, which was reported around 9:45 Wednesday night. Magnitude 3.2 on the Richter Scale corresponds to a minor earthquake that typically doesn't cause damage. The last major earthquake to hit the area happened in August 2011, when a magnitude 5.6 earthquake was recorded in Louisa, Va.
