HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Residents of Leeward Oahu weren't the only ones celebrating the opening of the new Queen's Medical Center West facility in Ewa earlier this week.
For Pali Momi Medical Center, May 20, 2014, the date that the new hospital opened, was a date that represented the 875 days since the former Hawaii Medical Center West closed in 2011.
That closure forced Pali Momi to make changes to its facility, add staff and create new programs that allowed for more service to those who would have otherwise received treatment at the Ewa hospital.
On Tuesday, the Pali Momi hospital held multiple events to thank employees for "rising to the challenge" of handling the increase in patients.
"Pali Momi helped fill the void by expanding services in any way it was necessary to positively impact the needs of our community," CEO Jen H. Chahanovich said. "Everyone who works here contributed, and I can't say enough about our personal commitment to put patients first."
Banners that read "Our Community Thanks You, Pali Momi" were placed around the hospital, quoting letters from grateful patients.
