HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Jill Hansen, the Hawaii woman charged with attempted murder after allegedly hitting an elderly woman with her car in a fit of road rage, tried to escape from prison on Monday officials say.
According to a spokesperson with the Department of Public Safety, Hansen tried to make her getaway while being processed at the OCCC intake area.
"She tried to slip out behind someone who was walking through the door," said Toni Schwartz Public Information Officer. "Thanks to the quick actions of our staff, they immediately grabbed her and stopped her from getting any further."
Hansen never got outside the intake area.
Thirty-year-old Hansen is accused of hitting an elderly woman with her car in the parking garage of the victim's Waikiki condo last Wednesday. Witnesses told police Hansen tried to reverse and hit the woman again, but a good samaritan, Chris Khory, used a crowbar to scare Hansen off.
Bail for Hansen is set at $1 million.
