An elderly man was treated for minor injuries and four people were displaced after a house fire early Friday morning destroyed a home along Pono Street in Aiea, paramedics and fire officials said.
Volunteers with the American Red Cross responded to the scene of the fire, which is believed to have been first reported just before 3:00 a.m., to assist with the displaced residents.
Paramedics say an 82-year-old man was treated for minor burns and was reported to be in stable condition.
Neighbors and family members at the scene of the fire said that while no other injuries were reported, two dogs and a pet bird were likely killed in the fire.
Witnesses said the fire appears to have started in the garage area, and four vehicles were also burned in the flames.
