High Surf Advisory posted for south shores

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The National Weather Service has issued a High Surf Advisory for the south facing shores of all islands, bringing a  "town swell" that could last through the weekend.

The advisory will be in effect from noon Friday through 6 p.m. Sunday. Forecasters expect wave heights could reach 6 to 8 foot faces.

Beachgoers, swimmers and surfers should heed all advice from ocean safety officials and exercise caution. Strong breaking waves and strong longstore and rip currents will make swimming difficult and dangerous in the advisory area.
