The Hawaiian music community, family and friends of the late Chino Montero will remember the life and legacy of the legendary guitarist and singer through funeral services set to take place on May 29.
The services, which will be held at the Hawaiian Memorial Cemetery, will begin at 10 a.m. and will follow with a burial.
The Na Hoku Hanohano award nominee died suddenly on May 2 from a pulmonary embolism, friends said. He was 52.
Montero's close friend and Manoa Madness bandmate Nathan Nahinu has started a fund to raise money for Montero's funeral and medical expenses. Montero had no medical or life insurance.
Donations can be made to the "Friends of Chino Montero."
