Lifeguards rescue 57-year-old bodyboarder from surf in North Shore

North Shore lifeguard officials rescued a 57-year-old man who was knocked unconscious while bodyboarding Saturday at Ke Iki Beach.

According to an Emergency Medical Service official, the patient hit his head on the ocean floor and became unresponsive. Lifeguards spotted him face down and pulled him from the water. They performed CPR and were able to bring the patient back.

The man was transported to the trauma center in serious condition.
