HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The Hawaii state gas price average inched up by a penny from last week to show an increase for the 12th straight week, according to the AAA Hawaii Weekend Gas Watch. The $4.38 state average is one cent more than last Thursday, nine cents more than last month and four cents more than on this day last year.
Honolulu's average price steadied at $4.34 a gallon for regular unleaded – unchanged from last week, 11 cents more than last month and 10 cents more than a year ago.
In Hilo, the average gas price is $4.18 per gallon, unchanged from last week, six cents more than last month and 18 cents less than this time a year ago.
Wailuku's average is $4.47 a gallon, also unchanged from last Thursday, eight cents more than last month and four cents less on this day last year.
"While Honolulu motorists saw local average prices pause at the pump this past week, the fractional increases nudged the state average higher," said AAA Hawaii General Manager Liane Sumida. "Even though the increase was negligible to most drivers, they should continue to use a gentle driving style to maximize their fuel economy whenever possible," she added.
