No tsunami threat after 6.4 magnitude earthquake near Mexican coast

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A strong earthquake shook an area near the coast of Mexico, but was not strong enough to generate a tsunami threat to Hawaii.

The quake was measured at a magnitude 6.4, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The earthquake happened at around 7:00 a.m. HST.
