Education nonprofit debuts, accepting applications from local high school students for free inaugural summer classes

CAPE CORAL, Fla., May 7, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- CodeFlorida.org, a nonprofit organization focused on teaching computer science to school-aged children in Florida, announces its inaugural schedule of classes. Inspired by Code.org, co-founders, Steven E. Martin and Eviana J. Martin, managing members of Martin Law Firm, PL., saw a need for a STEM education platform teaching computer science in the community.

"Our goal for this organization is to develop a robust computer science curriculum for high school aged students starting with basic programming," said CodeFlorida.org co-founder Steven E. Martin.

"Teaching computer science to children in our community will not only develop young minds, it will expose the children to opportunities in a global way," said CodeFlorida.org co-founder Eviana J. Martin.

Mr. and Mrs. Martin will provide initial financial support to CodeFlorida.org including office space for classes in Cape Coral, Florida.

The summer classes will be open to a limited number of students learning Introduction to Computation and Programming Using Python. Classes will meet twice weekly for eight weeks.

Applications to the school must be sent prior to June 1, 2014 via U.S.Mail to CodeFlorida.org, 3701 Del Prado Boulevard S., Cape Coral, Florida 33904 or via email to learn@codeflorida.org.

Inspired by Code.org, CodeFlorida.org, is a non-profit focused on teaching computer science to school-aged children in Florida.
