Shooting near Case Western causes late night campus lockdown

CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

Cleveland Police are investigating a shooting which occurred near the Case Western Reserve campus in the area of E. 118th and Wade Park.

The incident happened around 1 a.m.

Four people were walking in the area when they say they were approached by a group of males in a car.

Police say the males in the vehicle threatened the pedestrians and got out of the car and started shooting.

One of the people on foot, a 17-year-old male, suffered a gunshot wound in the thigh.

He was taken to MetroHealth Medical Center.

Case Western Reserve officials temporarily locked the campus down as officers searched the area for the shooters.

Officers were unable to locate the shooters.

The victims were unable to give police a suspect or vehicle description.

The lockdown would have been instituted by the University.
