HONOLULU (AP) - The wife of a Big Island man who promoted marijuana use through his ministry has been sentenced to 27 months in prison for her role in a pot distribution ring.
Sherryanne Christie was also sentenced Monday to three years of supervised release.
Her sentence came shortly after Roger Christie of Hilo was sentenced to five years on similar charges. Roger Christie says he looks forward to appealing.
Roger Christie says his religion is based on helping people heal through the "sacrament" of medical marijuana.
Roger Christie, the founder of the Hawaii Cannabis Ministry, and his wife have tried to fight the charges on religious grounds.
