SIERRA VISTA, AZ (CBS5/AP) -

Firefighters are gaining control over a wildfire burning in the Huachuca Mountains in southeastern Arizona.

Earlier Saturday, the blaze prompted authorities to warn residents to prepare for a possible evacuation.

The Cochise County Sheriff's Office said in a website statement Saturday night that fire officials report that after setting back burns, they are "confident that they have control of the fire and they do not anticipate further spread or threats to residential neighborhoods."

CCSO added, "We are fortunate that this turned out so well, and we appreciate all of the efforts put forth by public safety agencies and our citizens."

Sheriff's spokeswoman Carol Capas said earlier that a few hundred homes could be in the path of the fire.

Coronado National Forest spokeswoman Heidi Schewel said the so-called Aerostat Fire burned through grass and brush.
