Rainbow Wahine volleyball team adds Arizona transfer
HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -
University of Hawaii Rainbow Wahine volleyball head coach Dave Shoji announced the addition of transfer Olivia Magill for the 2014 season.
Magill, an incoming junior from Seattle, Wash., was a two-year starter at middle blocker for the University of Arizona and led the Wildcats with 119 total blocks (1.16 b/s).
"We welcome Olivia to the Rainbow Wahine volleyball program," said Shoji, who will be entering his 40th season at the helm of the 'Bows. "She will be a force in the middle and help both our offense and defense for the next two years. She competed at a high level in the Pac-12 as a starter for Arizona the past two seasons."
In addition to leading Arizona in blocks last season, Magill posted a team-high .335 hitting percentage and accumulated 202 kills. She was named to two all-tournament teams including a selection to the Outrigger Hotels and Resorts Volleyball Challenge All-Tournament Team in Hawai'i. She also earned Pac-12 all-freshman team honors her first season and recorded 223 blocks and 346 kills in her two seasons with the Wildcats.
Changes to the 2014 roster also include Kayla Kawamura and Kyra Goodman who have decided not to return.
The Rainbow Wahine are coming off a 2013 season that saw them advance to the NCAA tournament for the 32nd time after winning their 19th straight conference title.
