MARINE CORPS BASE HAWAII, KANEOHE (HawaiiNewsNow) -
A military jury on Thursday reached a verdict in Marine Master Sgt. Nathaniel Cosby's court martial.
Cosby stood trial accused of killing Ivanice "Ivy" Harris of Oregon last May, then dumping her body near Yokohama Bay.
Cosby told police he picked up Harris and spent the night with her at his Waikiki hotel. Surveillance video obtained after her death showed the pair entering an elevator together. When Cosby next appeared on camera, he was struggling to drag a heavy bag to his car.
He later admitted to killing Harris but claimed self-defense.
Closing arguments took place Thursday morning at Marine Corps Base Hawaii. Cosby was found guilty of murder and faces a maximum sentence of life in prison without parole. He is also guilty of obstruction of justice and patronizing a prostitute.
