Despite confusion regarding alumni access to the University of Hawaii's new Warrior Recreation Center in Manoa, U.H. graduates -- some of them, anyway -- will be allowed to purchase memberships for the new facility.
"On behalf of the Campus Center Board and the Office of Student Life & Development, we offer our sincerest apologies for the delayed implementation regarding UHM alumni membership at the Warrior Recreation Center," a statement from campus officials reads. "All UHM alumni who were assessed the mandatory Campus Center Operations and Recreation Fee starting Spring 2008 and who are interested in purchasing membership may do so on or after May 1, 2014, at the Warrior Recreation Service Counter."
The invitation apparently excludes, at least initially, university alumni who graduated prior to Spring 2008 and did not pay the aforementioned fee, portions of which are believed to help pay for the new facility.
The annual fee for alumni membership is $300 dollars, and alumni will be asked to provide documentation of alumni status, the school says. Copies of transcripts or a diploma will be accepted.
School officials say they will "continue to assess the actual usage of the facility" before determining whether or not to extend membership offers to alumni who graduated prior to Spring 2008.
