19 dogs, 8 cats seized from west Toledo house looking for new homes

TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Last week more than two dozen animals were seized from a Toledo home. A man is facing an animal cruelty charge in connection to the case.

In total 19 dogs and more than 8 cats are in need of a forever home after officials say they were living in "deplorable conditions."

Michael Suiter has been charged with one count of prohibitions concerning companion animals torture after a neighbor called in a complaint.

The animals are now in foster care at the Toledo Area Humane Society.

Leaders there say they have some cuts and scrapes but are healthy. They just need a loving family to care for them.

"They're usually pretty shy. They're not used to a typical household life so they'll need a patient family that will give them a lot of love and spend time with them and show them everything is ok," said Toledo Area Humane Society Marketing Director Danielle Jones.

Suiter is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday.
