Honolulu police arrest pair who escaped while handcuffed together

KAPOLEI, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

Honolulu Police Department officials have reportedly located and arrested a pair of juvenile males who are believed to have escaped from police custody while handcuffed together in Kaleloa on Friday morning.

The circumstances surrounding the search remain unclear at this time, and police have not released any additional information related to the investigation.

Hawaii News Now has learned that the two boys were detained briefly in the Kalaeloa area before they were able to escape and run off into some bushes.

Police had already obtained personal information for one of the suspects, and the two boys were arrested once they arrived at his home in Waianae while still handcuffed together.

Police did not immediately say how the boys were able to travel from Kalaeloa to Waianae while still handcuffed to one another.

We will have more information on this developing story as soon as it becomes available.
