By: Rick Blangiardi

This Saturday, April 19, is an extremely important date when it comes to feeding our local community.

Hawaii News Now is proud to once again be one of the many organizations dedicated to helping the nearly 200,000 people who are affected by hunger, including 55,000 children and 11,000 seniors.

The 25th annual Hawaii Foodbank Food drive occurs from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at ten location sites.

You can drop canned meals, monetary donations or non-perishables to Waterfront Plaza, Kapolei Commons, Koko Marina Center, McCully shopping center, Pearl City Shopping Center, the Town Center of Mililani, Waianae Mall Shopping Center, Waiokeola Congregational Church, Windward City Shopping Center or various military locations.

For statewide locations, visit hawaiifoobank.org.

The Hawaii Foodbank is the only nonprofit agency that collects, warehouses and distributes mass quantities of perishable and nonperishable food to 250 member agencies as well as food banks on the Big Island, Maui and Kauai.

Look for the Hawaii News Now crew at the dunking booth at waterfront plaza from 11 a.m. to 2:30 pm and please be sure to give generously.
