1 dead, 1 hospitalized after crash on Airport Highway overpass at Ohio Turnpike

MONCLOVA TOWNSHIP, OH (Toledo News Now) -

The Toledo Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash that occurred on Airport Highway (state Route 2) by the Ohio Turnpike on Tuesday morning.

The OSHP says shortly before 7:30 a.m., a Ford F-350 driven by Curtis Davis, 47, of Canton, MI, was traveling westbound on SR 2. Davis lost control on the icy overpass, causing him to travel left of center and strike an eastbound Honda Civic driven by Rex George, 65, of Sylvania.

According to OSHP, Davis was transported to a nearby hospital for his injuries. George was pronounce dead at the scene by EMS personnel.

Seatbelt usage is unknown for Davis at this time, but the OSHP says George was wearing his seatbelt.

Airport Highway was closed for a few hours, but has since reopened. The crash remains under investigation.
