HILO, BIG ISLAND (HawaiiNewsNow) -

Hilo firefighters are investigating the cause of a vehicle fire that caused $24,500 in damage to a house Saturday night. 

The incident occurred at 272 Kaiulani Street in the Central Hilo area Saturday. Officials say a 2010 Jeep was found inside of the garage with its engine compartment on fire. The fire reportedly spread to the walls and ceiling of the garage. 

HFD extinguished the fire shortly before 10 p.m. 

Officials say the single occupant of the home escaped with no injuries. 

According to the HFD report, damage is estimated at $24,500.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
