(Hawaii News Now) - A video that captured local singer/songwriter Kimie getting into a fender bender while shooting the music video for her new single, "New Day," is making the rounds on social media, garnering nearly 6,000 views on YouTube since it was posted April 1.
Set against the lush backdrop of Oahu's natural beauty, the music video features Kimie driving a vintage red Fiat convertible. Thirty seconds into the music video, Kimie's car is hit from behind by an SUV. The singer and her videographer are startled, but not injured.
Viewers were startled, too.
The music video was an April Fool's Day prank, and part of First Insurance Company of Hawaii's "In Paradise, Bad Still Happens" integrated marketing campaign that reminds consumers that mishaps can happen in even the most perfect of places. First Insurance developed the innovative brand campaign, which launched in February, to increase brand awareness and attract new customers. The April Fool's music video was released only on social media.
Twenty-four hours after being released, the April Fool's video became one of the top viewed videos on Kimie's YouTube channel, which has nearly 5,000 subscribers.
Viewers who watch the entire April Fool's video are rewarded with a free download of the Kimie's "New Day" single. They can also enter to win albums autographed by the artist, t-shirts and gas gift cards through First Insurance's Facebook page. The single will be on Kimie's new album being released this summer.
