UPDATE: go! Airlines has announced the cancellation of Flight 1021 to Kahului due to mechanical issues.
The cancellation comes on the final day of Hawaii operations for the airline, and a Hawaii News Now crew at the go! Airlines terminal says the flight board indicates that at least six flights scheduled for Monday afternoon had already been delayed.
ORIGINAL STORY: After eight years in the skies above Hawaii, go! Airlines flew its final inter-island flight on Monday night.
go! has fewer than 100 employees, and most are expected to transfer to the mainland when the company shuts down all Hawaii operations on Tuesday.
Hawaii News Now is told no ceremony is planned for the airline's last flight, a trip from Hilo to Honolulu which is scheduled to land at around 10 p.m.
The airline shook up the inter-island market when it began servicing Hawaii in 2006, offering fares as low as $1 dollar.
Many blamed go! for driving Aloha Airlines out of business. The company's final flight comes, somewhat ironically, six years to the day after Aloha Airlines' final flight back in 2008.
