Dominic Joshua Keoki Dabin, age 38 of Lihue, was sentenced Thursday to five years in prison for threatening his family members with a knife and abusing his wife.

Circuit Court Chief Judge Randal G.B. Valenciano handed down the prison term for charges of Terroristic Threatening in the First Degree and Abuse of a Family or Household Member.

Dabin has prior convictions for Bail Jumping in the First Degree, Theft in the Second Degree, and Theft in the Third Degree. Due to his criminal history, Dabin must serve a mandatory minimum sentence of at least one year and eight months in prison before being eligible for parole.

Dabin was represented by Warren Perry, Esq. and the State was represented by Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Shauna Lee Cahill. Kaua‘i police officer Anthony Abalos was the lead investigator on the case.

Prosecuting Attorney Justin F. Kollar praised the sentence: "Mr. Dabin is well on his way to being a career criminal. This sentence sends a message that for those who persist in preying on the members of this community, we will not hesitate to seek prison time."
