TIFTON, GA (WALB) -

It was the best year in quite a while for south Georgia on the basketball court.

Two area teams won GHSA titles, and several area stars are represented on the all-state teams.

Tift County's Tadric Jackson was named the Georgia boys' basketball player of the year by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution Thursday.

The future Georgia Tech Yellow Jacket averaged nearly 19 points per game while leading the Blue Devils to their first state championship since 1996.

Tift County's head coach Eric Holland was named the AAAAAA boys' coach of the year.

On the girls' side, Randolph-Clay's Brandi Buie led the Lady Red Devils to a state championship. The senior guard was named the Girls' Class A player of the year.
